Brief Description

This project was completed for a Home Owner’s Association. Following arborists’ recommendations, the HOA needed to excavate the root flares of ancient Pecan trees and build retaining walls around the pits. The original contractor abandoned the job after excavation, leaving 75 yards of earth behind. We finished the excavation by hand and constructed the retaining wall using dry-stacked limestone blocks. Our goal was to mitigate flooding around the trees and direct water into specially dug channels back-filled with rock. After building the walls, we added safety railings and filled the pits with first-grind mulch. The trees are now healthier, and the area is safe for all residents.
